A Discourse on Social Health: Focusing on Issues of ¡®Me Too¡¯ and The News Reports in Korea
Kim Jeoung-Hee

Abstract
The sexual violence in Korea is a ingrained social problem. The ¡®me too¡¯ movement has been attracting nationwide attention for last six months. This paper observes the Korean mass media keeps reporting on the issue that is not something new. The purpose of this paper is to present a critical review of the news reports. Then, it inquires extensibility of a notion of sexual violence into the social health in Korea. The academic paper retrieval system of Korea education and research information service was used in order to check on the academic interests of social health in Korea. The News reports on the issue of ¡®me too¡¯ were searched in the Naver homepage during January 29 through July 31 in 2018. Korean society through the news reports on ¡®me too¡¯ was unhealthy. Mistrust and hierarchical social structure were common words to express the situation. However, the hidden key words that explain the social unhealthiness in Korean were collectivism, totalitarianism, authoritarianism, and masculism and so on. Interviewees of the news reports frequently said that nothing has been changed even in the middle of the me too movement. The sexual violence needs to be considered focusing on social context which explains why it happens in a daily life for many people in Korea. Eventually, it is required to change the discourse towards a transformation of Korean culture and its classical human view. Then, a discourse on social health could be on right track.
